There is always something extra special about a session when parents decide to wait until birth to find out if they are having a boy or a girl. The anticipation makes the day even more exciting, and that was exactly the case when baby Emma arrived for her newborn session.
Emma’s parents shared that they had waited the entire pregnancy to find out the gender of their baby. That kind of surprise is rare these days, so I was just as excited as they were when I learned they had welcomed a beautiful baby girl.
Before the session, Emma’s mom mentioned that purple was her favorite color. As soon as I heard that, I secretly hoped their baby would be a girl so we could incorporate some soft purple tones into the session. Purple also happens to be my favorite color, so I was thrilled when everything came together perfectly. The delicate shades added such a sweet and timeless touch to Emma’s portraits.
At first, Emma’s parents were unsure about including family photos during their newborn session. Many parents feel this way, especially in the early days when everyone is adjusting to life with a new baby. However, I always encourage families to consider a few portraits together because those images often become the most meaningful over time.
In the end, they decided to include them, and I am so glad they did. Seeing the love and pride on their faces as they held their brand new baby girl made those images incredibly special. After the session, Emma’s mom shared that she was really glad they chose to do the family photos after all, which is something I hear often.
Those early days with a newborn pass so quickly, and capturing those first moments together as a family creates memories that will only grow more meaningful with time.
Baby Emma was absolutely perfect for her session, and it was such a joy documenting this beautiful new beginning for her family.
