Harlan, you are just as charming and beautiful as your big brother Henry. I first met your Mommy a few years ago and I know how much she loves you and your big brother. She has had the most fun 1st birthday parties for you both! The days are long but the years are just flying by. I’m so glad I got to meet you before you turned one! We had a super fun cake smash and you were very happy diving into that cake! Keep on smiling Harlan. Clearly you and your brother are your Mommy’s pride and joy.
I have a lot of clients that ask me how to decide on the cake smash theme. So let’s answer that question. It’s usually the client that decides on the cake smash colors or theme. I ask that clients look through my cake smash gallery to get some ideas, do some research on Pinterest and/or go with something that the baby particularly likes. Maybe that is a favorite book, TV show or character. Sometimes it is just a fun color scheme (like blue and gold!). Once I know the direction the clients wants to go in I can pull together all the decorations for the set. I ask parents to bring the baby’s cake smash outfit. This can be something super simple, like jeans and a bow tie or it can be something you order from Etsy. You might also want a hat, crown or headband for the cake smash. I usually ask clients to order these items several weeks before our session since Etsy vendors can have various delivery turnaround. I can order the cake and have it delivered on the day of our session! It’s such a fun and memorable way to celebrate your little one’s first birthday!
