Lake Erie Senior Session in Cleveland

Rider’s senior session was one I had been looking forward to for a while. Since he’s been on the Rocky River Sailing team for several years, I knew from the start that I wanted to include elements that felt true to him—boats, the beach, and of course Lake Erie. Thankfully, being a Cleveland senior photographer means having no shortage of incredible locations to choose from. We’re so lucky to have Lake Erie right in our backyard.

At first, we talked through a few different ideas. Edgewater Beach was an obvious contender, and the Cleveland Yachting Club also felt like a great fit for his sailing background. However, after some discussion, we ultimately decided on Bay Village—and it could not have been a better choice. Bay Village is such a charming city, with beautiful lake views, natural textures, and a relaxed feel that worked perfectly for Rider’s session.

Once we got started, everything came together effortlessly. Rider was such a willing model and completely open to trying new ideas. As a result, we were able to create a variety of looks while keeping the session fun and laid-back. Senior boys can sometimes feel a little stiff in front of the camera, but with a mix of movement, conversation, and my usual behind-the-scenes antics, he quickly relaxed. Before long, he had forgotten about the camera altogether.

By the end of the session, we were all laughing and genuinely having a great time—and that energy shows in his images. Sessions like this are exactly why I love being a Cleveland senior photographer. Between amazing locations along Lake Erie and seniors who are excited to celebrate this milestone, every session feels unique and meaningful.
