Cleveland Heights Cake Smash Photographer

Sweet baby Jade was back in the studio for her one year cake smash session! It’s hard to believe it’s already been a full year since we photographed her newborn photos here in my studio. That first year always seems to fly by, and it’s such a joy to see these little ones grow into their personalities. Jade is every bit as beautiful and loved as the day I first met her.

To begin the session, we started with a few updated family portraits. I always love including parents in the one-year session—it’s such a meaningful way to capture how much everyone has changed and grown together. After the family photos, it was time for something extra fun and cultural: Jade’s Doljabi ceremony!

For anyone unfamiliar, Doljabi is a traditional Korean game played during a baby’s first birthday celebration. The child is presented with a variety of objects, and whichever one they choose is believed to predict their future path or interests. Everyone watched closely as Jade reached out and grabbed a computer mouse! Maybe she’ll grow up to be a tech visionary—or perhaps the next Steve Jobs! It was such a joyful, laughter-filled moment that her parents will remember forever.

After the Doljabi, we transitioned into the cake smash portion of the session. Continuing the “Little Star” theme, we created a soft, dreamy setup filled with pastel tones, twinkling stars, and a sprinkle of sparkle. Even though Jade wasn’t too interested in eating her cake, she loved exploring the frosting and giggling at all of us cheering her on. Those curious, candid moments often end up being the sweetest photos of all!

Jade’s one year session was the perfect way to celebrate this beautiful milestone. From her expressive little faces to her contagious giggles, every image captured her bright spirit and charm. As a Cleveland cake smash and baby photographer, I truly love watching my newborn clients grow into curious toddlers and helping families preserve these unforgettable first-year memories.
