When to do Newborn Photos?
I get asked this a lot! Like on the daily! I used to say before the baby is 2 weeks old. But 2020 showed me that I can do newborn sessions when the baby is much older as well. Ideally the baby will be under 14 days old when we do the newborn session. I really feel like this is the ideal window to get those sleepy, curled up newborn photos that I’ve become known for here in Cleveland.
Older newborn photos are totally possible. Last year when everything shut down for months we were forced to think outside the box. I was really surprised how well some of the babies I worked with did even thought they were 4, 5, 6 weeks old. It took a little more work and they didn’t fit into ALL my adorable newborn hats and outfits. But it was totally doable. So if you’ve given birth and are just deciding to inquire about newborn photos, it’s never too late. I always try to fit in last minute sessions whenever possible.
When to schedule? If you want to have a guaranteed spot on my schedule then I would contact me at the start of your second trimester. This way I know your due date and an approximate time frame. Babies come early. Babies come late. But I only take a handful of newborns each month to ensure a spot on my schedule. Once scheduled I just ask parents to shoot me an email once baby has arrive and we will set a firm date for the session!
Now onto this gorgeous family! They came to the newborn session dressed to the nines’!!! I’m in love with Mom’s skirt from Anthropologie. Little Leo was the star of the show but his 2 big sisters were pretty close to stealing the spotlight! Introducing baby Leo, 9 days old.
